WE ALL START AS STRANGERS

words of wisdom - quotes

HAVING ONLY LIVED in Vancouver for a little over a year and a half, I am no stranger to the fact that it’s hard to make friends in a new city. Really hard. It was only about a month or so ago that I started to really feel like Vancouver was home. The feeling came to me when I realized I could almost guarantee that I’d run into someone I knew while out on any given errand. I truly, finally, felt a sense of community; a closeness that I never ever even came close to having in Toronto (of course, the size difference between the two cities played a significant role in that).

Last night Tiff and I held our (now annual) holiday open house. I am forever grateful to all the wonderful people who showed up to help us spread holiday cheer. It is incredibly bizarre to me that we could fill our home to the brim (literally) with friends. People who, not all that long ago, I didn’t even know existed.

We all start as strangers.

Thanks to everyone who came out last night – it was just a merry ole time!

ps. a party recap is surely to come – stay tuned!
