TGIF TGIF TGIF. Here’s what rocked my world this week:

1. That. That you see right there is called a miracle. It’s my shadow. In January. In Vancouver. Where the sun refuses to shine from November-June. We’ve been having peculiarly sunny weather over here and I’m certainly not complaining. My body is all “oh hey there Vitamin D, I’ve missed you”.

2. Two words. Julienne Peeler. My new favourite kitchen gadget (that is until my new food processor arrives… which should happen by the end of the day). Check out my zucchini ‘un-pasta’ post to find out why I love it!

3. Still swimming. It’s become a sort of challenge and I’m obsessed with trying to master it. Right now my goal is to be able to do 100m Freestyle without stopping (I can do about 25m hahaha). Trying to get 2 swims a week in right now.

4. There’s nothing like getting a package – it’s like a present to yourself! This personal gift was my new black Madewell Zipcode Boots. Which will likely be an Alt Summit SLC wardrobe staple.

5. I officially completed two weeks on Tosca Reno’s Cooler Plan 1 and I’m pretty proud of myself for actually following through on this. I’ll post a little recap next week with a bit more details on what I was actually doing (it’s not really a cleanse…).

How was your week? Any awesome weekend plans? If you’re in Vancouver you should hit up the lululemon (Ware)House Party – it’s gonna be, well, a party!

1. I have got to be eligible for some sort of award for this. I put up a TV on Craigslist, sold it, had the new owner pick it up, went out and bought a brand new TV and set it up along with my Apple TV all under 6 hours. I’m kind of a big deal. PS. I love my Apple TV so special thanks to my brother and his GF for hooking me up with that, this Christmas.

2. Sunday morning: yoga > brunch > movie = bliss. Such a great way to spend a Sunday – the good company helped too!

3. I started my swimming lessons and realized I’m a stronger swimmer than I originally thought I was. In fact – I probably don’t need the lessons at all. This also means that Tiffany is a better coach that I thought she was (just kiddin’ I knew she was awesome). Anyway – the classes are pretty much self-guided so I’m just going to use the time to commit to an hour of swimming each week. Plus, the facilities at the YMCA are kinda awesome – I already almost got suckered into a membership that I don’t need… do I? HAHA.

4. I’m officially 10 days into my ‘Cooler Plan 1’ 2-week challenge. Dairy-free, Gluten-free, Sugar-free, Preservative-free. AND I have not cheated once. Not even when we were out for drinks on Friday and I had a platter of meat and cheese under my nose. Nor when I was at a movie or out for brunch. This is a big effing deal. I always give-in. I don’t feel fatigued or hungry and I’m not feeling deprived or craving sugar at all. I did however reintroduce coffee into my life and man that was a godsend.

5. This work week has been extremely humbling. I’m officially in my new role and realizing that I know nothing. Lies. I know stuff. But I went from being an expert in a subject matter to learning a whole other side of the business. This little love note left for me from my new manager couldn’t have come at a better time. Steep learning curve, friends – but I’ll get there.

And obviously knowing this is in my near future is making every week leading up to it awesome. How was your week? Tell me!

holiday recap

I KNOW – whoa, right? I went a little overboard with High Five For Friday today but I assure you I have my reasons: 1. Because I missed last week due to Christmas craziness and there was so much awesomeness to not include it. 2. Because it’s the holidays aka the best time of year to break all the rules (do you know how much chocolate I ate?) so why not have 11 things rather than 5.

So in this very special edition you’re getting two weeks worth of highfive worthy stuff plus a mini recap of my trip home to Toronto last week. WOOT!

1. Did I mention I was home for the holidays? Certainly no greater feeling than being surrounded by family and friends at this time of year. It was also our first Christmas in my parents new place so that was kind of (weird but) awesome too.

2. I love giving presents so one of my major highlights would have to be watching my family open all their gifts!

3. Classic Imbrogno Christmas morning breakfast (but hold the whip and add eggs this year). Delicious.

4. Getting to see these two little munchkins (my cousins) they are growing up so fast!

5. Seeing the musical, Warhorse, downtown Toronto with the whole family – cousins and grandma included. The puppets are actually amazing – it’s wild.

6. Wedding and Bridesmaid dress shopping with Vee.

7. Quality cousin/nonna time – learning the tricks of the trade cooking Zeppole! (sidenote: looking back at my Instagram feed, I feel as though my Italian-ness was at an all time high over these 10 days).

8. Playing Italian cards with my nonno (see what I mean by the Italian-ness?). The best part is that contrary to grandfather code he never lets me win! But it keeps me coming back for more… grrr… *shakes fist*

9. A trip into Toronto and my old hood to have brunch with two of my really great friends! (Although Maddy was greatly missed!).

10/11. Counting down to the new year (and spending many other incredible, ridiculous slightly intoxicated nights) with these people – aka my high school friends, who yes, I am still friends with and love to death.

How were you holidays ya’ll?
