BEST PICTURE GOAL

Oscars - 2013

EVERY YEAR I challenge myself with the goal to watch all the Oscar nominated Best Picture films before the Academy Awards. And so far, every year I have failed. Last year I definitely got the closest to achieving it – I think I only missed 2 or 3 films ( and yes, this is considered good, according to my records).

This time it is likely a long shot because I actually haven’t seen a single film on the list (oh, the horror!). I’m not really sure why but I sort of stopped paying attention to the entertainment world this year. I recently went into my iTunes only to discover (aside from Taylor Swift’s album, Red) I hadn’t updated any music to my library since August! Same goes for the film scene – I sort of just forgot about them.

Who do you think will win Best Picture this year? Maybe I should start there first! haha.

ALT SUMMIT RECAP – DAY TWO

Alt Summit Recap - 2013

AS I WRITE this I’m totally buzzing (and I promise you it’s not from the booze since I’m still in prohibition January… poor planning on my part BTW.)

With the summit pretty much over I’m left here looking over my extensive notes (dork alert) and sifting through the trillions of business cards I collected (I almost wish this was an exaggeration) trying to comprehend the whirlwind that was the last 48 hours of my life. These nuggets, above, in my day two recap (here’s day one if you missed it) are what I know. They are the cold hard facts and quotes and #truthbombs that I managed to scribble down or tweet throughout the conference. The things that, for one reason or another, hit home with me. The slivers that I felt like capturing and serving back out to the world.

The rest of it (and believe you me there’s more)… it’s all still percolating.

I will say that I’m inspired. And that I have a serious girl crush on Darcy Miller. But for the rest of my Alt Summit Highlights – you’ll have to wait on those. This girl’s got to get some beauty sleep.

ALT SUMMIT RECAP – DAY ONE

Altsummit - SLC - 2013

ALT SUMMIT IS every bit incredible as it’s made out to be. I promise you I’m not lying and you should believe me because I spent the majority of the day hearing about how important authentic, raw and transparent content is. See – I’m already a changed woman. JK – I’ve always known this to be true but it’s refreshing to hear the masses adapt this mentality.

What I love most is how inspiring it is to be among a bazillion (seriously, there are so many people here) mostly female, amazingly talented people. People who are passionate about the same things I am. People who are design savvy, rooted in marketing, have a flair for style and an eye for an aesthetic. I am learning so much simply from just talking with everyone let alone the panels and speakers. Better yet I’m not being judged for instagramming every last detail in this place #winning.

Anyway, the fun is just beginning and I’m headed off to yet another party (this one is clue inspired and I’m going as Professor Plum!) but I wanted to share a daily recap while all the juicy nuggets are still fresh in my head. You can also expect an incredibly visual round up post later (as mentioned my phototaking scene is completely out of control).
